Jan 2 - Paul Benson - The Whoopee War: Texas' Crazy Centennial
In 1936 Texas celebrated its founding as an independent republic and held a world's fair-sized birthday party. The center of this celebration was the Texas Centennial Exposition held in Dallas at Fair Park. Although it was unlikely that Dallas should have been the round-up point for such an event, Dallas got to have the party. Ft. Worth couldn't stand the idea of Dallas as the center of the Texas universe so it put on its own shindig and called it the Frontier Exposition. This set off the Whoopee War and the world had never seen the like of it!!! Jan 9 - Paul Benson - Dogs of the Lord: From St. Francis to the Inquisition
The creation of mendicant orders such as the Franciscans and Dominicans was one of the most important events in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. How could such an institution as the Inquisition be support by the Dominicans? What was the role of St. Francis in the Crusades? How did these orders become predecessors to the Reformation? Jan 16 - John Cappello - Energy Imprinting

Anne Sadovsky, Certified Speaking Professional, anne@annesadovsky.com Feb 13 - PJ Spur - So You Want to Meet Your Soul Mate?
Author Richard Bach says that “A Soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other.” Well, if this is true, wouldn’t EVERYONE want to find his/her SOULMATE? Some people believe that a person has more than one Soulmate; that one’s sister or best friend can be a Soulmate, too. A Soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural love, intimacy or compatibility. As Valentine’s Day dawns, learn some simple steps to prepare one’s self and one’s heart for attracting a Soulmate. After 24 years in corporate America, PJ Spur wanted to find a better way to live her life and began her spiritual path to healing. In 2005, she pursued training in hypnotherapy, EFT, Reiki and Theta Healing. 2011 starts PJ's her sixth year in practice in Irving. She combines her training and skills to work as an Intuitive Coach with adults, teens and children. She and her husband, intuitive Steve Spur also hosts a weekly Meetup with classes in metaphysics and life skills. Her class, So You Want to Meet Your Soul Mate?, is one of her most popular workshops and is being held this coming Saturday, February 19. Her office is located 320 Decker Drive in Irving, TX. Feb 20 - Evelyn Tyler - How to Play Dodge Ball with the Tax Man in April
With the Congress “dilly-dallying” around with extending the “Bush” tax cut legislation we have enjoyed for years now, we must be mindful that tax brackets “might” increase more in 2011 than expected. Know that Congress is just waiting for the election to pass over; don’t wait for Congress to help you lower your tax liability at this late date! We can expect the number of IRS audits to continue to rise for small-business owners in 2011. About 30% to 45% of my tax relief clients are small businesses with tax problems - so I know how important it is to “dodge” IRS penalties, IRS audits and other tax problems that could be detrimental to your business. Evelyn Tyler, owner of E. Tyler Tax Relief revealed in her latest tax bulletin that “knowledge is power” in avoiding these crucial new tax laws! Feb 27 - Joanna Strong LPC - Neurofeedback/Biofeedback

Workshop: Keep Paddling! And Remember You’re Not on This Trip Alone
Imagine taking a raft trip with friends down a beautiful river. Ahhhh---it’s so relaxing. But then comes the exciting part—whitewater. If we get distracted and quit paddling, the turbulence will shove our raft around—or even dump us out. We can’t control the outer chaos, but we can paddle our raft with courage and skill while we cheer each other on and enjoy the trip. Daily commitment to the practice of foundational spiritual principles is how we keep paddling and keep ourselves steady through life’s commotion. We have all the best intentions to get centered every day, but somehow the busyness gets rolling and there’s more and more to do…and…well, we know the rest. Finding simple, fulfilling, regular ways to open ourselves to Spirit makes all the difference in the peacefulness of our day and the quality of our lives—and brings big blessings to those around us. In this participatory workshop we will discuss practical, daily ways we can honor our heart’s desire to live spiritually. By the workshop’s close, we will have developed a framework for spiritual practice ready to be individualized and put into use for the coming year. music: Donna Kay Workshop: Keep Paddling! You’re Not on This Trip Alone
Sunday, Jan 2, 1:30-3 pm
Facilitator: Rev. Dr. Anna Shouse, Transitional Minister Candidate Finding simple, fulfilling, regular ways to open ourselves to Spirit makes all the difference in the peacefulness of our day and the quality of our lives - and brings big blessings to those around us. In this participatory workshop we will discuss practical ways we can daily honor our heart’s desire to live spiritually. By the workshop’s close, we will have developed a framework for spiritual practice ready to be individualized and put into use for the coming year. Include daily spiritual practice among your New Year’s resolutions. Jan 9 – Rev. Tom Thorpe
Music: Chuck Pyle “Unity,” describes our common purpose of discovering, experiencing and expressing God. Certainly our name doesn’t describe uniformity in preferred spiritual practices or even in some of our beliefs. Unity students are, and from the earliest days of our movement, always have been a very diverse group. In our diversity, every one of us can proudly claim “I Am Unity.” Those things that appear to divide us can, instead, build stronger bonds of faith and fellowship among us when we recall and live by two spiritual principles that Jesus learned as a boy growing up in the Jewish village of Nazareth and later taught to all who would hear them. Ordained Unity minister Rev. Tom Thorpe currently serves as a faculty member and subject matter expert in Unity Institute’s Spiritual Education and Enrichment Program. To help achieve the goal of making Unity’s teachings available to “more people in more places in more ways more often,” Tom focuses on developing and presenting courses for Unity Institute’s Distance Learning programs. Tom is the author of Through A Loving Lens: Gentle Observations about Life, Love and God, and has written for both Daily Word and Unity Magazine. Rev. Thorpe also serves as host of the Unity FM Program, Discovering Eric Butterworth. Jan 16 – Mindy Audlin, LUT
What If It All Goes RIGHT? Creating a New World of Peace, Prosperity & Possibility
Einstein states that we can’t solve a problem at the same level of thinking that created the problem. Around the world, and within our communities, there are urgent problems that are calling us forth to birth a new consciousness. What if you could rise above the “realities” of your life simply by shifting your mindset? Music: Neil Mowles Jan 23 – Rev. Stephanie Seigh
The Enemy Mine

The I of the Storm: Embracing Conflict, Creating Peace
Sunday, Jan 23, 2011, 1-4 pm Love Offering
Facilitated by REV. STEPHANIE M. SEIGH, ACE, PCC, Director of Peacemaking & Transitional Services, AUCI This workshop explores the work of Rev. Gary Simmons in his book, The I of the Storm. The peacemaking mantra “No one and nothing is against you,” shows us how to see clearly what it takes to live a life of purpose and direction. We discover that conflict brings us to the edge of our resourcefulness, and shows us the “missing pieces” in our relationships. Through instruction and exercises, we learn that the entire Universe is FOR us and that everything in our lives, including conflict and discomfort, are opportunities to experience our wholeness and true worth. Join us for this powerful, life-changing workshop, as we are called to live a life of peace from our center, fully present to the storm, enabling us to be the connecting link between God and our world.
